Founder, chief surgeon and CEO of Gemini Eye Clinics in the Czech Republic and Vienna, Austria. Teacher in Ophthalmology at Charles University in Prague. 
As a surgeon dedicated to innovations, Dr Stodulka performed the first LASIK (1994), FEMTO-LASIK (2006), MIGS (2001) and FLACS (2012) procedures in the Czech Republic.  
He is also a co-inventor of the CAPSULaser Laser Capsulotomy System and has given over 900 presentations worldwide.

Dr Matthew Russell, the founder and director of VSON Laser Vision Specialist and OKKO Eye Specialist Centre, is a Brisbane based cataract and refractive surgeon. Dr Russell’s experience is built upon world-class subspecialty training at the renowned Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. He started a private practice in Brisbane in 2007. He has significant expertise in cataract and lens replacement surgery and has been at the leading edge of the latest advances in lens technology, particularly EDOF and trifocal platforms. His practice also encompasses refractive vision correction with ICL implantation, LASIK, PRK and SmartSight™ Lenticule Extraction. He has performed more than 20,000 surgical procedures over the last 15 years.

Patient Selection and Surgical Steps

Dr Alison Chiu is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with subspecialty interest in complex cataract surgery, refractive corneal and lens-based surgery, and ICL surgery. She works both in private practice and several public hospitals. In addition, she is a RANZCO Councillor, examiner, sits on the executive committee of the NSW branch, and supervisor of registrar training. Dr Chiu has previously been a lecturer and tutor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney and is currently conjoint academic staff in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of NSW.  

Alison completed her medical degree with Honours at the University of Sydney. She also completed a Bachelor or Medical Science and following a dedicated research year, graduated with First Class Honours. Subsequent to surgical and medical registrar training positions, her ophthalmology training was undertaken at Sydney Eye Hospital, with further subspecialty Fellowship qualification in Refractive Surgery. Dr Chiu has completed a PhD from the University of Sydney, supported by prestigious scholarships at University College London and Cambridge University. Further postgraduate study has been undertaken at Harvard University. Alison has presented research papers at national and international scientific meetings, published papers in the peer-reviewed literature and written a book chapter for Oxford University Press. Over her career, she has received numerous scholarships and awards for her research.

Implantable Contact Lens Surgery; Additive and Reversible Vision Correction

Dr Patrick Versace is a cataract and refractive surgeon with more than 25 years’ experience as a specialist ophthalmologist.  He holds appointments as a senior lecturer in Optometry at The University of New South Wales and Staff Specialist ophthalmologist at The Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick and Sydney Eye Hospital providing clinical service and registrar surgical training.    

He works closely with optometry through shared care, educational CPD related activity, University teaching to both undergraduates and postgraduates and joint research initiatives.  

Dr Versace has been involved in numerous clinical trials and is often an invited speaker at international meetings – most recently as Gold Medal lecturer at the Nethradhama meeting in India.  He regularly contributes to the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery giving lectures and participating in symposia.

Dr Florian Kretz (FEBO), MD is an international established ophthalmologist, surgeon, speaker and researcher. Always on duty for his patients, his focus and interests are the best clinical

As founder, CEO and lead surgeon of Precise Vision Augenärzte, he does surgeries at all surgical centers. The Precise Vision Augenärzte team consists of 20 national and international specialists to bring the latest innovations in ophthalmology directly into patient care. 
Dr Kretz has published more than 100 scientific articles in specialised ophthalmological press. He is a frequent consultant for news magazines regarding questions about ophthalmology (FOCUS, Stern, Spiegel). Much of his private time is dedicated to treating preventable blindness with his welfare organisation Augenärzte für die Welt gGmbH.

Prof Gerd U. Auffarth MD, FEBO graduated from Medical School at the RWTH Aachen, University of Technology, Germany and completed his Ophthalmology residency in Aachen and at the University Eye Clinic Heidelberg, Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg.

He has been a Max-Kade Post-doctoral Stipendary and Research Fellow at the Centre for Research on Ocular Therapeutics and Biodevices at the Storm Eye Institute, Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC, USA, also known as “David Apple Laboratory”

Prof. Auffarth has been chairman of the Dept. of Ophthalmology at the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg since 2011, Director of the David J. Apple International Laboratory for Ocular Pathology, and Director of the International Vision Correction Research Centre (IVCRC).

In 2014, 2016, 2018 #2, 2020 and 2022, Prof. Auffarth was ranked as one of the most influential people in Ophthalmology in the world. Until today, he received more than 200 awards for his scientific works. He has published more than 400 peer-reviewed publications, more than 370 book chapters, over 1500 lectures and over 1000 invited speeches and produced numerous award-winning scientific videos.

His main research interests focus on the biomaterial and implant research in cataract and laser surgery of the eye. His surgical expertise includes cataract and refractive, as well as cornea and glaucoma surgery.
